GOLDEN HOUR

Over Memorial Day weekend Bryan and I drove up to Cape Cod, MA for our friend's wedding! They got married on the beach right by the water and it was beautiful. Cocktail hour was during golden hour so I grabbed Bryan and ran down to the beach for a few pictures. The blue swing dress I'm wearing is my absolute new favorite. It's short, flowy and super comfortable so you can eat and drink all night long without feeling like your clothes are shrinking, haha!

I have added links to my entire outfit at the end of this post!

A WOODZEE WALK

I LOVE GOOOLD!!! I've been on a gold kick this year, and by that I don't mean jewelry (though that would be nice), but more like spray painting random things gold, always adding a gold streak in my abstract paintings, draping my bridesmaids in long gold gowns and attempting to add a touch of it to my everyday wardrobe (I suck at accessorizing with jewelry, trying to work on that). So I definitely needed gold sunglasses. Stat. These Wood Gold Mirrored Sunglasses by Woodzee looked really cool, turned out really cool, and I feel really cool when I wear them, so that's a win win win.

The company's tag line is "Style and Nature," so obviously we had to venture out into the woods the second the sun came out (the weather has been so overcast for weeks!). Bjorn loved it.

Okay let me quickly explain this incredible "pose". I think we ate Taco Bell right before this and I always feel the fullness in my neck... Is that normal? Anyone else get that? No? Okay cool. Bryan told me to do something with my hands so that was my move. #model

The frames are made from real wood. Pretty tight.

Shop these gold sunglasses HERE! They also come in two other colors. :)

*Thank you Woodzee for sponsoring this post!

DIY AMERICAN FLAG SHORTS

I don't know about you, but I have always wanted a pair of American flag jean shorts. only problem, it's hard enough for me to find shorts that fit perfectly, let alone with our flag on them. So I decided to paint my own! I found a pair of my mom's old Levi jean pants. I cut them exactly how I like, then washed them so they would fray nicely. Now let the painting begin!

me
materials

materials needed:

1. JEAN SHORTS

2. Any type of paint brush

3. White t-shirt paint (my craft store was out of the white fabric spray paint- I would recommend that if it is available)

4. Blue t-shirt paint (simply spray is AMAZING!! it doesn't even look like paint, just dyes your shorts the color you want)

5. Red t-shirt paint (tulip also sells fabric spray, but if they have simply spray BUY THAT)

6. Painters tape

7. Star stencil (makes life so much easier)

steps

the process:

Step 1: Tape off all the areas you do not want painted, then paint the right side white (one layer is fine, you don't want your shorts to feel stiff)

Step 2: Tape off the stripes, you can go horizontal or vertical.

Step 3: Sprayyyyyy paint! So fun. Be careful it doesn't get all over the place, like on places of your jeans you do not want red.

Step 4: Tape off the other side

Step 5: Spray paint the blue side (the simply spray stuff is seriously awesome)

Step 6: Paint on those little stars. the less paint on your brush the better, that way the white paint won't bleed

i also did the back pockets.

Pretty awesome right? I'm in love with these! And it did not take very long at all. Go find an old pair of shorts or jeans and try it yourself! Happy 4th of July!
